A unique & personal tour
of a Saigon few visitors ever see…

More like a discussion than a lecture, more like an experience than a tour, “Small Discoveries in Saigon” is a friendly and relaxed private tour with the goal of creating wonderment and understanding of the local culture.

The mission is to encourage visitors and expats alike to explore the Saigon that lies beyond the major landmarks and main streets.

The aim of my tour is to take you to the places you won’t find on your own. The places most tourists, and even many expats, never see.

The tour is available daily and starts no later than 06:00. For custom requests, such as group size or different start times, please contact me,  I’m happy to accommodate when possible.

The tour is $90/per person (2 million VND/per person). To learn more, continue reading below.

  • This is a morning tour. We start at 6:00 am*.
  • The tour runs daily and lasts approximately 4 hours.

*I’m happy to push it to 6:30 am, but any later and you stand a chance of missing the “real” Saigon.

I limit my tours to 4 people, to allow for greater flexibility and require at least two. But, if you’re a larger family, a group traveling together or a single traveller, please email me and I can create a customized tour for you (additional fees apply).
Comfy walking shoes and an explorative nature! We may pop into a pagoda, so t-shirts are better than tank tops, Bermuda shorts better than hot pants.
Also, the wet markets can be…well, a bit wet, something to consider when choosing footwear.
  • Pick up and drop off at your hotel/residence (D1, D2, D3, D7)
  • Local refreshments & snacks
  • A fun and unique perspective from someone who speaks Vietnamese well enough to be understood by locals and whose natural curiosity has led her all over the city!
So am I! And although this is not a “photography tour”, it is a private tour which I’m happy to keep flexible. That means if you would like to focus on photography (no pun intended!), I’m all for it! If not everyone in your party is interested, you can also hire me for a one-on-one Saigon photography workshop or outing. Please email me for inquiries & rates.

What is the Small Discoveries Tour?

After spending nearly 4 years capturing the city through my images and sharing them on my Facebook page “Somewhere in Saigon”, I’m so excited to share the Saigon behind my photographs in my new tour. A Saigon that lies just beyond the main streets and major landmarks.

I want you to see the every day life, the way I’ve been able to experience it. This means ducking into tucked-away markets and hidden alleys, chatting with locals and stopping for a snack just because we can. With a group of maximum 4 people, we can cater to our whims or stay on a set itinerary.

This tour is more like a discussion than a lecture. Chance encounters and the small discoveries that come with them are embraced. Think of it as visiting a friend who can speak the local language well enough to get you through the day, and at the same time make your Saigon experience unique. Curious about me? Let me introduce myself.

I’m always excited when other avid photographers join me. I’m more than happy to focus on photography, as much or as little as the group wants. That’s the benefit of being such a small group. Seen my work and like it? I also offer private workshops for photography beginners or people looking to learn more from how I work. If you’re looking for locations or a workshop at a photography beginner’s level, read more in the “Photography Buff?” tab on this page.
