When your photography buff nephew visits and you arrange a private Saigon tour? Best Aunt of the Year Award!

Beth has been living in Saigon for 5 years. As her nephew was coming for a visit, she arranged a “Somewhere in Saigon” tour for him. What a great aunt!

Charlie had been following my adventures on my “Somewhere in Saigon” Facebook & Instagram accounts pretty much since his trip from the US to Vietnam was booked, so I was already acquainted with him. Naturally, I was super excited to finally meet him in person!

At only 16, Charlie is a talented photographer, with a great eye for detail. Although my tour is not a dedicated photography tour, I’m always happy to cater it to the interests of my participants. Since Charlie and I have a shared passion for photography and food, we made more than a few stops to shoot and eat, during the tour.

Here are some of my snapshots from the tour. Beth and Charlie, it was such a pleasure to have you both!

With that said, since I’d already decided to kick off the New Year by getting this blog started, I figured it was a great opportunity to share a few more of my favorite shots than what I already shared on my “Somewhere in Saigon” Facebook & Instagram accounts.

All of the shots are from Vietnam, predominantly from Saigon although I have snuck in a few favorites from the Mekong and Phan Thiet/Mui Ne. The pictures are shot with one of two cameras, the Fujifilm x100T or the Sony a7ii.
